Cancer Awareness and Prevention

CACHSF has just embarked on a new project around Cancer Awareness and Prevention within the Black and minority ethnic communities to help tackle health inequalities. Imani the Project Coordinator and Karen Hare (CEO of Cancer Campaign in Suffolk) recently attended a women’s group at Phoebe giving a talk around breast and cervical cancer awareness. The women found it extremely helpful and many felt more aware about the signs and symptoms, about the importance of not leaving things if they have concerns, and felt more able to do more thorough breast checks. The aim of the project is to increase the referrals and testing at much earlier stage to reduce fatalities. The project also focusses on prostate, testicular, lung cancer also and is funded by Suffolk Community Foundation. The next community talk will be held at Bethel Church with the community. If you have any concerns and need support contact Imani on 07909 516 343 or pop into the CACHSF offices on Monday between 1pm-4pm
